Modern society teaches, “Outward appearance is the most important asset for a woman”. In a society where certain facial appearances and figures are credited as beauty, women today seem to invest hugely in making their appearance rich and charismatic. Using makeup is one of the major parts of their manifestation but I remember the day when I first applied kajal in my eyes and from then I started to feel my own eyes small. The day when I strengthened my hair, it made me hate my naturally wavy hair. This is what makeup does to us. Hiding our skin and being not comfortable with our color.
Whenever you ask a woman why she wears makeup, probably this is what she replies “because it makes me look beautiful”. She also may confess to using it for hiding her imperfections. Amusingly, you will rarely hear a woman say she’s comfortable in her own skin. And this is exactly what makeup has done to women!
Effects of makeup:
There is a multi-billion dollar industry that thrives on a global scale, only because of our desire to look young and pretty. And there are thousands of finest creams, serums, and non-surgical treatments out there that claim to transform you. With a booming beauty industry that is valued at billions and a staggering number of beauty products available. Women believe that plastering with these BB foundations and creams can only mask facial skin blemishes, and obsession with these products is nothing less than drug addiction. However, makeup is making women less acceptable of their real selves and more uncomfortable with their bare faces, which is what one fails to realize. Some women reckon makeup helps boost their self-confidence but never recognize it’s only temporary. Looking at it from a broader perspective, such women forget their real identity and ultimately cannot accept what they see in the mirror.
According to experts, sometimes there are certain carcinogens present in cosmetics that can do more damage than you can imagine. Lipsticks can contain aluminum which can cause long-term anemia and chemicals like zinc oxide, BHA, barium sulfate can be found in some cosmetics may cause severe harm. moreover, sleeping in makeup can clog your pores and invite acne onto your face. It also can irritate your eyes and cause bumps to form on the skin close to your eyes.
Body image is our internalized sense of what we look like and putting tons of makeup contributes to body image issues. Unfortunately, there are a lot of women who feel rejected with their bodies. Nearly every one of them is not used to seeing themselves without makeup and when they do, they begin to have an aversion to their face and body more.
Healthy makeup habits:
Makeup isn't totally harmful to your skin, but it can cause problems if you practice unhealthy makeup habits and use low-quality products. Developing a healthy routine will help you create a safe environment for your skin. while these tips are simple, they will help you avoid unwanted acne, aging, and dry or oily skin.
- Wash your face every night.
- Clean your brushes regularly.
- Find makeup products that work for your skin.
- Use moisturizer and sunscreen daily.
- Don’t share makeup.
In the end, we all love looking our absolute best every day. Wearing makeup helps us look younger, prettier, and more awake. But between all the lashes, primers, and the time and money-draining routine, our skin ends up suffering at the end of the day. Whereas people believe make-up hide imperfections and enhance beauty but in reality, makeup only adds to the layers of artifice. Women shouldn't rely on makeup to give them their identity. They need to identify and recognize their innate qualities and inner strengths to feel good about them. Women need to feel comfortable inside and out to be emotionally stable. When there is a break between the two, it can lead to a lack of adjustment.
